No decision has been made with regards to the future of Longhorns coach Mack Brown according to Texas Athletic Director Steve Patterson. He said, “We continue to discuss the future of Texas Football,” Mack Brown has not resigned. And, no decisions have been made.”
Did Not Meet Expectations
Texas has just completed another dismal regular season that simply fell short of expectations. The Longhorns went 8-4, recovering from a 1-2 start and beating Oklahoma, but still had a lopsided late season loss to Baylor and Oklahoma. There has been a lot of speculation regarding Brown’s future since the season began. It became rampant after the blowout losses to BYU as well as Mississippi in September. Mack Brown fired defensive coordinator Manny Diaz after the BYU loss and replaced him with Greg Robinson. That move seemed to help the Longhorns as they were able to play better and the season finally peaked with a 36-20 win against rival Oklahoma in October.
