After hinting at a possible return to the cage, former UFC Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.

Successful Procedure

This was the second torn ACL for the fighter after undergoing surgery for his right knee in 2011. St. Pierre tweeted a picture of himself after the procedure declaring it a success and on the road to recovery. Dr. Neal ElAttrache of Los Angeles’ Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic performed the surgery for both injuries, and St. Pierre is expected to be back on his feet sooner than later.

The Division after St. Pierre

St. Pierre gave up his title in 2013 after a decision victory over Johnny Hendricks and has been in a fight hiatus ever since. Meanwhile, Hendricks won the vacant title against Robbie Lawler to be crowned the new champion and is ready to take on all challengers after he heals from his own injuries. If Hendricks manages to defend his title for long enough, a St. Pierre return would spell an immediate title rematch.
